Digital Skills for Teachers

CSTA SOVA exists to build the capacity of K-12 teachers in Southern Virginia to deliver quality CS education
by providing professional development and continuing education opportunities.
In November 2017, the Virginia DOE passed the new Computer Science Standards of Learning, making Virginia the first state in the country to mandate computer science (CS) education for all students. In response to this mandate, the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) Southern VA chapter was established with the goal of building the capacity of K-12 teachers in Southern Virginia to deliver quality CS education by providing professional development and continuing education opportunities . This chapter is supported by CodeVA, a statewide K-12 CS advocacy organization, Microsoft, the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research, and Mid-Atlantic Broadband (MBC).
Members of the education community and business community are all invited to join the chapter. This collaboration has the power to transform our region!
