The SOVA Innovation Hub Tech Lending Library empowers educators by providing access to a set of technology tools for classroom and student use. Designed to support hands-on learning and innovation, this free resource allows educators to “check out” a set of cutting-edge equipment on a periodic basis—giving students the opportunity to explore, create, and problem-solve while boosting their technology skills.

How It Works

  • Browse Available Equipment & Plan Your Lesson – View the list of equipment included in our Tech Lending Library and determine how you will use the equipment to enhance your lesson plans.
  • Request a LoanSubmit a request to let us know when you would like to borrow equipment from the Tech Lending Library for your classroom or student project.
  • Complete the Borrowing Agreement Form – Agree to the borrowing terms (listed below).
  • Pick Up & Innovate – Pickup the equipment from the SOVA Innovation Hub and use it to engage students in new ways.
  • Return & Share – Return the equipment so other educators can benefit, and share your success stories!

Tech Lending Library Borrowing Terms

  • Checkout Duration: The standard loan period is one week (Monday – Friday).
  • Pickup Time: Mondays between 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Drop-off Time: Fridays by 4:30 PM
  • Pickup/Dropoff Location: SOVA Innovation Hub (715 Wilborn Avenue, South Boston, VA, 24952)
  • Extension Requests: Extensions may be granted upon request if no other group is waiting to borrow the kit. Requests must be made before the original return date.
  • Eligibility: Borrowers must be K-12 educators, school administrators, college/higher ed instructors, or community program leaders focused on student learning.
  • Borrowing Agreement Form: Borrowers must complete the Borrowing Agreement Form before receiving equipment from the Tech Lending Library, acknowledging responsibility for its care and timely return. The Borrower may be financially responsible for missing or damaged equipment.
  • Post-Checkout Report: Borrowers must complete a post-checkout form upon returning equipment to the Tech Lending Library. This should include:
      • Educator and student feedback on their experience using the technology.
      • A photo or video of the technology being used in the classroom (with necessary permissions).
      • A sample of student work or content created with the technology.
      • Suggestions for future additions to the Tech Lending Library and technology offerings at the SOVA Innovation Hub.
