Southern Piedmont Technology Council hosted Tech on Tour in South Boston, Virginia on Thursday, Tech on TourFebruary 23, 2023. The event was co-hosted and sponsored by the SOVA Innovation Hub, the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) and Microsoft. Themed in honor of National Career and Technical Education Month®, the event was open to SPTC members and potential members, including technology professionals, educators, and students. Attendees had the opportunity to tour the Southern Virginia Education Center, ProductWorks @ SVHEC, and the SOVA Innovation Hub, including MBC’s corporate offices, and the Microsoft Experience Center.

In celebration of February being National Career and Technical Education Month®, the event included a panel to share perspectives on career technical education. The panel consisted of Tech on Tour PanelHolly Elliott, Microsoft Data Center; Jerry Shelton, Microsoft Data Center; Ryland Clark, Hitachi and RCFlyBy; Dr. Scott Lowman, Institute and Advanced Learning Research; Rebecca Saunders, Halifax County Public Schools; Dr. Brian Jackson, Virginia Economic Development Partnership. 

The panel was moderated by Jeremy Satterfield, Microsoft TechSpark Program Manager andBuilding Buddies at Tech on Tour in South Boston Board Member of the Southern Piedmont Technology Council.

Attendees were encouraged to bring their children, thanks to STEM activities being provided by Building Buddies.
